Richardson wins international group’s coveted leadership award

A North Carolina Cooperative Extension administrator has won a prestigious international agriculture award.

Dr. John Richardson received the Association for International Agricultural and Extension Education’s outstanding leadership award on May 26 in Dublin, Ireland, at AIAEE’s annual conference.

Richardson is agricultural programs accountability manager for the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service and the N.C. Agricultural Research Service, in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Richardson, an Agricultural and Extension Education Department faculty member, was AIAEE’s 2001–2002 president and served as president-elect and in other capacities.

He was the elected AIAEE board-member-at-large for the three years prior to his presidency. He also chaired the association’s scholarly activities committee for six years.

The awards committee considered candidates’ personal commitment, interpersonal relations, self-improvement, achievement, excellence and prominence in the agricultural and extension education profession.

AIAEE, established in 1984, is a professional association helping network agricultural educators and extension personnel who are working to strengthen agricultural and extension education programs and institutions worldwide.
