Smyth receives international award

Dr. T. Jot Smyth

Dr. T. Jot Smyth, professor of soil science, has been honored with the Soil Science Society of America's International Soil Science Award.

The award was presented last fall at the society's International Annual Meeting in Seattle. The International Soil Science Award recognizes outstanding contributions to soil science on the international scene.

Smyth was cited for his work to improve crop production and efficiency in tropical soils through improved soil nutrient management. He has participated in the Soil Management Collaborative Research Support Program since the inception of the program in 1981.

Smyth provides overall project coordination for a Soil Management CRSP project titled "Adoption of the Nutrient Management Support System (NuMaSS) Throughout Latin America."
