  1. Identify the principal endocrine organs in an insect's body and name the hormone(s) produced by each.
  2. Explain the role of insect hormones in the control of molting and in the regulation of metamorphosis.
  3. List the principal organs in an insect's circulatory system.  Describe the main functions of the circulatory system and trace the basic pattern of blood flow through the body.
  4. Describe the structure and function of an insect's respiratory system.  Explain how aquatic insects acquire oxygen for respiration.
  5. Locate and identify the parts of an insect's digestive system and explain the function of each part.  Describe how the structure of the digestive system may be adapted for different types of food.
  6. Compare the nutritional requirements of insects and humans.  Explain how some insects have become adapted to exploit food resources that are nutritionally deficient.
  7. Describe the male and female reproductive systems of insects and identify the internal and external structures associated with each sex.
  8. Explain how sex determination of offspring occurs in different insect orders.
  9. Compare and contrast external fertilization with internal fertilization.  Explain the evolutionary significance of these processes.
