ESA Meeting Highlights


The department has been well-represented at the Entomological Society of America Annual National meeting in Denver this week. Current and former Entomology post-docs and graduate students Carolina Concha (Scott Lab), Zach DeVries (Schal Lab), Yvonne Matos (Schal Lab), Robert Mitchell (Roe Lab), and Angela Sierras (Schal Lab) were recognized at the ESA's Highlights of Medical, Veterinary and Urban Entomology for the best papers of the year.


Jennifer Baltzegar (Gould Lab) won 1st place in the poster competition in the SysEB Diptera and Hemiptera competition. Her poster title was "Temporal and spatial patterns of knockdown resistance in Aedes aegypti in Iquitos Peru".

Damon D'Ambrosio (Kennedy Lab) won 2nd place in the 10 minute competition in PIE Invasive species, resistance management, spcial Insects, and transgenic crops. His presentation title was "Evaluation of two reduced risk foliar insecticides in managing neonicotinoid resistant tobacco thrips in cotton".
