Develop management strategies for residential, industrial and wood-destroying pests, including bed bugs, cockroaches, ants, rodents and termites. Provide direct assistance to pest management professionals and other industrial clients to solve pest problem situations.  Establish educational programs emphasizing IPM in the residential and industrial settings for pest management professionals, state and municipal agencies, the business community, and to general public through the county Cooperative Extension Service programs including NC Safe Plates®, ServSafe®IPM for Schools and Child Care Centers, Centralized Intern Training Program for county Environmental Health.

Other activities include Pesticide applicator certification training in  Category B (Public Health) and  structural pest control Phases P (Household Pests), W (Wood Destroying Pests), and F (Structural Fumigation).

Current Projects:

  • Field trials of new insect management products, particularly termiticides.

Dr. Waldvogel also serves as Director of the Structural Pest Management Training & Research Facility.
