Housing The graduate student participants are staying at the Becton Residence Hall. The presenters are staying at the Velvet Cloak Hotel.
Meals For meals in the Clark Dining Hall, the hours are Breakfast (7:00 - 9:00 am), Lunch (11:00 - 1:30 pm) and Dinner (5:00 - 7:00 pm) on Monday through Friday. During the summer, campus dining halls are generally closed over the weekends. The cost per meal at the Clark Dining Hall is $4.75. Information on other campus dining locations and hours can be found at http://www.ncsudining.com/dining/locations/index.html. There are many dining options on Hillsborough Street and at Mission Valley shopping center at Western Blvd. and Avent Ferry Road.
Stores Along Hillsborough Street (on the north side of campus near Harrelson Hall), there are many other restaurants, coffee shops and banks with ATM machines. There are also ATM machines located outside the student bookstore.
Workshop On the first day of the workshop, Monday, July 21, you will need to walk over to Harrelson Hall (after breakfast). Coffee and soft drinks will be served in 326 Harrelson Hall. The problem presentations will start at 9:00 a.m. in 314 Harrelson Hall. Transportation will be available to take participants to other planned social events during the workshop.
Computers Computers with Internet access are available in the Becton Residence Hall. Computer accounts have been set up for students to use campus wide. There are workstations in the Mathematics Computing Lab on the second floor of Harrelson Hall (across the hall from Room 245). PLEASE NOTE - Most campus buildings are locked in the evenings and on the weekend. You should plan on working elsewhere, such as the dorm or D.H. Hill Library.
Library During the workshop, you may check out books from the D.H. Hill Library (across the Brickyard from Harrelson). If you do check out books, identify yourself as a workshop participant and show a picture ID to the person at the main circulation desk.
Copying Copies may be made by seeing Deborah Leistikow in 509-F Cox. If she is unavailable, then please ask your Faculty Consultant to assist you.
Laundry Coin operated laundry machines are available in the Becton Residence Hall.
Parking If you drive to Raleigh, you will need a parking permit to park your vehicle at the Becton Residence Hall. If you requested a parking permit, you will find it in the packet you receive at check-in.
Recreational Passes to the Carmichael Gym can be signed out with Deborah Leistikow (509-F Cox). The gym features basketball courts, racquetball, volleyball, weight rooms, sauna, indoor track and cardio machines, and a pool.
