FLE 201: Leading a Discussion. General Topic: The Values Americans Live By

• The class will be divided into groups of three. Each group will be given a brief commentary on a topic regarding historical American values and members will collaborate to lead an interesting and informative class discussion.
  
  
• Group members will work together to introduce the topic and then pose questions about the topic to the class. Each group should:
  

- introduce the topic by asking a thought-provoking question, sharing an intriguing fact, relating an anecdote, or using another attention-getting device to interest your audience in the topic

- share and explain at least two vocabulary words used in your commentary that may be unfamiliar to the class

- lead a discussion by asking questions and encouraging answers. Your goal is to create a lively discussion about your topic. You may draw on your own experiences and should encourage class members to share their own experiences and opinions. You can also explore cultural similarities and differences related to your topic.



• You will be given time in class to work together to prepare your discussion.
