FLE 400 Final Exam Review
I. Words of Wisdom #5, 6, 7, 8, course packet p. 1

II. Dialogue Reading. These will focus on anything from primary phrase stress to intonation to consonant and vowel sounds, to word stress.

Examples:

Hostess: Good evening, sir.  How many?
Patron:  Five.
Hostess: Would you like smoking or non-smoking?
Patron:  Non-smoking.
Hostess: This way, please.
A:   OK.  So if we have the equation A plus B times  C equals Y ...
B: Excuse me.  Did you say A minus B times C equals Y?
A: No.  Plus B.
III. Sentence Construction. These will focus on anything from primary phrase stress to intonation to consonant and vowel sounds, to word stress.
go / store / pick up / tomato
study / quantum physics
beach / nice place / relax
semester / begin / January 5th

V. Word Stress (-ate and long -y words)

VI. Paragraph Reading.  This will focus on anything from consonants and vowels, to word and phrase stress.

VII. Free Speech.  The topic will be given to you.  It will be something like "Describe your favorite city," or "Tell about your plans for the summer vacation."

Note:  On the final exam, a * symbol will indicate a compound noun
