Developing Cultural Competence Certificate Program

Student Global Skills Training Series

This co-curricular student development program includes 3 sequential workshops designed to improve student participants ability recognize culture, cultural dimensions, and cultural competency; and introduce cultural skills that are immediately applicable in students’ experiences on campus and outside of campus contexts. In order to receive the Developing Cultural Competence Certificate, NC State students are expected to (1) complete all three DCC workshops, (2) apply their cultural knowledge in an elective activity and (3) pass a cultural assessment.

Activities

There are at least 30 events planned each semester that CENet members can participate in and meet hundreds of students from all around the world. Past events include bowling nights at the Alley, "speed-friending," movie screenings and discussions, Carolina Ballet performances, volunteering at the International Festival, playing baseball with the Miracle League of the Triangle, and more.
