National Standards

The National Science Education Standards present a vision of a scientifically literate populace. They outline what students need to know, understand, and be able to do to be scientifically literate at different grade levels. They describe an educational system in which all students demonstrate high levels of performance, in which teachers are empowered to make the decisions essential for effective learning, in which interlocking communities of teachers and students are focused on learning science, and in which supportive educational programs and systems nurture achievement. The Standards point toward a future that is challenging but attainable--which is why they are written in the present tense.

The purpose of the project is to develop 20 instructional modules based upon selected TSA Competitive Events. Each of you has the responsibility to develop instructional materials for one event. This initial developmental phase is a two-year effort. A subsequent field testing and refinement phase will result in a high quality textbook with a companion CD containing materials for teachers and students.

The International Test and Evaluation Association (ITEA) , is a not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1980 to further the exchange of technical information in the field of test and evaluation. Its members include professionals from industry, government, and academia, who are involved in the development and application of policy and techniques used to assess the effectiveness, reliability, and safety of new and existing systems and products.
